The COSMOS certification allows organic or natural cosmetics to be commercialised worldwide. For a cosmetic product to be COSMOS certified, several factors must be inspected to ensure that the product is organic and that practices are sustainable.

  1. The origin of a products ingredients and the processing of the ingredients

This relates to the formulation of a product. This test inspects whether the ingredients used and the processes to create the product, are respectful to the environment.

  1. The composition of the total product

This test calculates the organic content of ingredients and how much organic content is needed to certify the product as organic.

  1. Storage, manufacturing and packaging

This inspection is to test whether manufacturing is respectful to human health and the environment. The manufacturing facility is inspected to ensure adequate cleanliness, hygiene and traceability procedures are implemented throughout all production processes, and packaging is checked to verify it is respectful to the environment.

  1. Environmental management

In order to verify processes are respectful to the environment, this test verifies that production processes manage, minimise and recycle waste.

  1. Labelling and communication

This inspects product labelling and company marketing to ensure the necessary information is provided and there are no misleading claims.

  1. Inspection, certification and control

This step verifies that an independently accredited authorised competent body conducts all previous testing. We are subject to a number of random “spot checks” throughout the year to ensure our products and practices are in accordance with COSMOS regulations.
