Case Study 1

In recent times we have received requests from various companies to assist them with moving their bulk filling activities requirements to an EU or Irish based facility / Lab following the fallout from Brexit. Most of these companies would have been previously using UK fillers or manufacturers to fulfil those needs.

One such company contacted us recently with a view to filling their certified organic products in Ireland, having previously dealt solely with UK manufacturers. As an Irish owned company they were eager to move to using an Irish contract filling company that could provide a smooth transition and have the quality controls already in place. Brexit had given them the push to act on this.

Our in-house team of professional contract manufacturers were delighted to help and we even added additional certification to our Good manufacturing Practice (GMP) 22716:2007 and Quality Management Systems 9001:2015 by the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) in order to meet the expectations and standards of the customer. This eliminated disruption to their current supply and also meant there were no obstacles involved in making the move to us from their existing supplier.

As one of the biggest cosmetic manufacturers in Ireland we have a wealth of experience in developing and producing natural, sustainable, vegan friendly skincare, cosmetics, deodorants, shampoos, conditioners a wide selection of personal care and household products. We also aim to deliver the best possible product in the most efficient timeframe, with our project managers updating each client at regular intervals during the process. This particular client was delighted with their experience and the entire process from their initial contact to the dispatch of their first order only took a period of three months. We look forward to building on this and creating a lasting professional relationship with them going forward.

Case Study 2

At Contract Formulations we specialise in the creation, development and filling of natural, sustainable, vegan friendly skincare, cosmetics, deodorants, shampoos, conditioners a wide selection of personal care and household products. We can use existing formulations provided by our clients or we can create a brand new formulation from scratch, based on customer requirements.

It’s always exciting when a new product is born and we love meeting new clients who have ideas for new creations. We were recently approached by a start-up company who had some initial concept ideas for two new personal care products. As the proprietors were completely new to the cosmetics manufacturing world they were oblivious to the steps involved in creating, developing and producing those types of products from initial concept to shelf ready stage. Luckily at Contract Formulations, we have an in-house team of expert chemists and project managers, who were more than happy to discuss the project with the clients and put them at ease with the steps involved.

To begin the process the Initial product briefs and concepts were discussed, along with an overview of the process involved, the costs, timelines and stages of production. There were many research & development (R&D) meetings scheduled with the team in order to get the concepts on paper and get the process moving. Once the initial paper stage was complete our team began sampling and trials to ensure the effectiveness, functionality, viscosity, fragrance, scent, texture and overall look of the product. We then began to work on the packaging requirements and our clients were delighted that we had such vast access to packaging suppliers, therefore ensuring the best possible results and the most cost effective prices, our wide range of vendors on our approved vendor supply list offer a vast array of packaging, from traditional packaging to bottles, both in glass and recycled plastic, pots aluminium jars, printed and labelled packing, tubes and airless pump. Once the formulations were finalised we were able to begin work on the actual packaging design and wording, along with signing off on EU legislation / regulations and paperwork. At this stage we were also able to order final raw materials and begin manufacture of the product for sale and delivery.

Our client was delighted with our efficiency and the fact that regular meetings with the team kept them updated on each stage of the process. We also don’t enforce minimum order quantities which was a great bonus for a start-up company. We wish them every success with their new product and look forward to working with them again in the future.

Here is a list of our Team members who were involved in the process from concept to completion: Client, Internal Contract Formulations Project leader, Head Chemist (R&D), Office Manager (RM and packaging sourcing and costings), Quality Assurance officer (Final sign off on label wording to EU Regs, product sign off for sale and necessary paperwork to sell in EU) and Production Manager (Warehousing and delivery of final product)
